3L Travel Website goes live!

3L travel website is now online on the world wide web.
3L were in groups of 3. 3L were working really hard to find pictures on google images of catagory things from the country they were working on. The catogories were weather, transport, hotels, where to stay, landmarks, animals, maps, flags, capital city, language, food and money. They emailed the pictures to the person in the group who was making the website. The person who was making the website went to their email, saved the pictures to their desktop and then went to the webpage and inserted the
picture from the file on the desktop. Using control and wheel they changed the size of the page so they could resize the picture. The students were typing the captions next to the pictures so the people who read it would know what the picture was of.

Animal teeth!

In science today we learned about animal teeth and skulls. We labelled the animal skulls with the correct label. We looked at their teeth to see which animal it might be. If it was a carnivore it would have canines and some molars. If it was a herbivore it would have incisors and molars. If it was an omnivore it would have all three types of teeth.
Try this game can you tell the difference between omnivores, carniovre and herbivores.

How good were you please comment.

Splendid Blended Smoothies

In DT we have been making smoothies. Each group made 4 or 5 different smoothies and gave each one a rating. Have look at us in action!
What was your favourite 3L and why? Please comment.

Many thanks to Lucy for providing the photos.
Many thanks to our parent helpers, we couldn't have done it without you.

Shared Area

In our shared area we have Patana Central which is like a shopping centre. We have a dentist, a sushi bar, opticians, cafe and greengrocers.
When we play in these we are learning to be gentle, polite, communicate, cooperate, have a imagination and be a good thinker.
In the Sushi Bar you can make plastercine Sushi and learn how to use chop sticks and exercise the muscles in your fingers.
In the cafe you learn how to use money and pay with the right money.
To learn how to eat properly in the cafe for example not to speak with food in your mouth. To learn how fun it is to be whatever job you are playing and then you could be it when you grow up.
You learn to design glasses and play where you test to see if your eye sight is fine in the Opticians.
In the shared area dentist we are learning about where teeth are in the mouth and what shapes they can be.
You can get pretend vegetables and fruits and weigh them and learn how to read scales in the year 3 greengrocers between 3w and 3C.

Spelling homework came home today and the next test will be Thursday.

Smoothies

Everyclass is making a smoothie for judges to taste and the winning smoothie goes in the snack bar so people can buy it.

Before we let the judges taste it we are going to think of stuff to put in the smoothies.

Today we tasted some drinks so we can see if we wanted to put them in the smoothie.

We tasted apple juice, orange juice, blackcurrant cordial, lemon cordial, drinking yogurt, sprite, soda water and plain water.

We walked around the classroom and we saw some drinks and we tasted them. You had to write if it was sour, sweet or other words to describe it. Give it a score from 0 to 10.

This graph shows us how many people liked the drinks.
The water the most popular drink that the class tasted.
That means we would use frozen water (ice) in a smoothie because we know children like water.

Super Phonics

Suuupppper Phoooniiics to the rescue!

Today in phonics we practised the two sounds the ure sound and the qu sound.

We played a game called buried tresure and we used the two sounds ure and qu.

The buried treasure game with the ure sound was hard because ganure was a word on the game and we thought it was real and it wasn't!

Loi Kratong

What a brilliant day!
Please post comments about what you thought of the day.
In Literacy we wrote a piece together about Loi Kratong. Here is is.

BPS has special days where students take part in different activities. There are many types of activities for example Loi Kratong, Tiger Day, international day and Busking day. Read below to find out more.
Loi Kratong
Loi Kratong is when Thai people say sorry to the god of water for making it dirty and thank you for the water.
On Loi Kratong the students go to the exam hall and do Loi Kratong activities such as make rubber leaf flowers, kratongs, dough dolls and lotus dolls. They also dress up in Traditional Thai costumes. The students float kratongs on the secondary pond.

For those who can recall these with only 1 or 2 mistakes then you must learn your 3,4, 6 and 8 times tables.

So you must know the following facts for the 2 times tables.

1x2=2

What has happened to our plants?

Here are our plants before and after. The hurricanes guided reading group have written what the class noticed.
No Air plant
The plant with no air drooping a lot.
The plant with no air has yellow and green leaves and a little bit of water.

No Soil Plant
The no soil plant is looking very like its going to die soon.
When we touch the leaf it falls down very easily.
The leaf is very black.
We think it will die on about 10th,11th,12 or 13th.

No light Plant
We have looked at the no light plant.
We have noticed that the red part of the leaves are turning yellow.
It was a amazing sight. So if the no light plant doesn't have light, the no light plant will have green and yellow leaves.

No leaves Plant
the no leaves plant is still looking healthy
but it has no leaves.

Control plant
Control plant is very healthy enough.
And nothing is going bad on control plant.
Do you think that the control plant is healthy enough.

No Water Plant
The No Water plant looks like it is going to die.
I hope the plant will grow well until November.
Its very droopy and the soil is very dried.
When you touch it it will stick on your hands.

Aquathon

Look at how hard we worked! Well done 3L!

You have got to believe me I'm telling the truth......

We played a game yesterday in Science. It was to help us learn new science words for our topic on Materials. Each group had a science word. They found out what it meant and wrote it down. Then they thought of two made up meanings. Next, the rest of the class had to guess which one was true and which ones were made up.
Can you guess which is the true meaning?
Brittle
1) The smell of fresh air and grass.
2) To fill a plastic bag and pop it.
3) Hard but likely to break or snap.
Absorbent
1) a drop of water that rises
2) when a material soaks up liquid easily
3) a material that is made from glass
Buoyant
1) able to float
2) how to say hello in Greek
3) a boy ant in love with a girl ant
Opaque
1)You cannot see through it
2)It is black fire
3) It's a crime
Durable
1)To control a robot
2) Strong and likely to last
3) To blast into space
Saturated
1) On saturday we have fun
2) Drive around Saturn
3) Soaking wet
Please post comments telling us what you think is true.
Please post your own science words for this game. You could use transparent, waterproof, flexible, elastic, dull, hard, strong, shiny, magnetic, aerodynamic and streamline.

Computer Plants

Try this simulation.

Operation Pot Plants

What happens if you take away what a plant needs to survive?
We are doing and experiment with 6 plants. We are taking away one thing a plant needs to stay alive and then we are going to watch a see what happens. Each group is taking away one thing. Our groups are pictured below and have typed a piece of writing to go with their picture.
<=The picture here is the control plant. We haven't taken away anything from this plant.

Red Table
We put the plant in the plastic bag to let no air to the plant. We put a transparent plastic bag so we can also give it the sunlight. We water it by a tube.

Blue Table
This plant is our experiment for taking soil from it. We went to the year 3 garden and took the soil out. Then we took the plant back and watered it.
Yellow Table
We are experimenting about what will happen if we cut the leaves off. The first day we watered the plant. The second day it stilled did not grow leaves but the roots are growing amazingly out of the bottom of the plant pot.

Pink Table
We are experimenting on a plant with no light.
We put our plant in a box.
We are using a special tube which we are connecting to our plant.
We have made air holes so air can go through. We put cloth on the hole so light can't get through.
We won't know what's happening in the box because we can't open it. Maybe we will have to think of a way we can check it without letting light go into it.
Green Table
Our group has not watered their plant for a week.I t is not dying
at all. We think it will survive. The soil is very dry and the plant is still normal but one of the leaf are turning pink .
Some of the leaves are healthy and some of them are riped.

Hello from 3L

Today we have seen our class blog for the first time. We think it is an excellent idea.
