Rock scratching rocks!

Have a look at 3L investigating rocks

We asked the question
Which rock is the hardest?

We carried out a scratch test to see if different rocks could be scratched.

What did we find out?
Marble is the hardest rock because either we could not scratch it or it only scratched a little bit.

Chalk was the softest rock because even holding it in your hand made it crumble.

All our soft rocks were sedimentary and our hard rocks were metamorphic.

Look at this link to see how igneous rocks are made.

Do you know what metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous mean?

Watch our videos to help you understand.
